I am about to board up(with cement board) a stud wall with a shower. Is there anything I need to do for pipes? Add ply? Before I put the cement board on?

Studs run from the bottom plate to the top plate in one single length.
Your corner studs are a concoction of bits and pieces.
Presumably any other inside corner has been constructed in the same haphazard way?
Pull the corners and do it properly with full studs in plane with two sides.
Your inside corners must be perfectly at 90 degrees and spot on plumb.
You can use the 2 x 4 off-cuts as backing to pick up where the boards meet at the corner - google footprints of stud framing inside corners.
What about the backing studs for boards and enclosure jambs - have they been doubled up?

Why not post pics of the whole framing arrangement - if you go ahead with what you've got it probably wont work, and could be an expensive lesson.
