We have had a new kitchen and the boiler moved etc.

Anyway to cut a long story short, we have a Potterton statesman boiler which is oil fired to the house.

Since moving the boiler, the wall/room thermostat seems to be moved right up to 30oC to get it almost warm and to get it to kick in?

Our builder said we need a new Thermostat?! which has worked fine and thats not been touched..

But on the Boiler itself, the Thermostat knob is around 3 O Clock, where I am sure it was at around 9 o clock before

Could this be as simple as turning the actual Boiler thermostat UP itself, back to 9oClock and that would kick in the wall/room thermostat which USED to kick in around 23oC?

for once the builder is right.
???

I would just turn up the boiler stat.

Yes thanks. I have done that and all seems warmer!

I thought I was going mad until
I saw the boiler thermostat so thought it may be that?

Anyway is the boiler thermostat or the room thermostat the one that controls the oil? Obviously I don't want to burn up all of our oil within a week!

Turn the boiler stat to where it was before. This ensures that water leaving the boiler is really hot, which will toast the radiators and make the rooms heat up quicker.
After that, you'll be able to turn the room stat. down!
John :)

Ok thanks

Will try turning up the Boiler Thermostat first, which at the moment, does seem to warm the rooms up quicker, and maybe the problem

If not, roughly how much is a new room Thermostat for the hallway, inc labour?
