Sorry, just don't see why we should house whole families of foreigners over here just because one of 'em may be working. If that makes me racist in your eyes, so be it.
The fact that you singled out 'Eastern Europeans' does indeed make you a racist...

Because plenty of other European nationalities, many of whom have been here for decades, will suffer...

Along with plenty of UK people who find themselves in the same boat here and abroad...

But then it seems you get your kicks from enjoying the fact that millions of people won't be able to live in the same place as their sisters/brothers/parents, and indeed in some cases their spouse or children!

That is the human reality of brexit...

(Human being - a race I am finding it increasingly difficult to believe you belong to!)

That's an interesting idea.

Can you give us an example of a country that we don't currently trade with, due to our membership of the EU?

I think hatejob is demonstrating that he is incapable of finding such an example.

His earlier post was, as expected, nonsense.

UK exports
Obv Rotterdam effect influences figures somewhat.

Look for the biggest number:
EU 274
US 112
China 22
Ireland 34
Japan 13
India 7
Turkey 10
Australia 10

A large percentage may go to the eu, but is shrinking, so is not now the majority of exports.

Did we dip our toe in before we joined the EU?
Missed this earlier.

After we joined Europe in 1973, the next government didn't like the terms that we had joined under so a confirmatory referendum was held in 1975...

It's always best to get the consent of the people only when the details of the issue are known :)

Funnily enough smogg used to agree on this principle!

A number of interpretations can be drawn from that..First...we had only been in EU (common mkt then...)so it was early days in form function and consequences .Now we have 40 odd years to see what happened.(Details of issues therefore known!!!!)
A majority of people voted in 40 years ago ...Presumably in your way of thinking..The clever ones voted in...You suggesting in 40 years..somehow the same people of the UK have all gone thick???....With lots of births in last 40 years majority voting remain, must have been huge swing of older oeople from in to out.Any way...100% convinced you will have some smart azz condescending clever dik reply..followed by a face and possibly linky linky.....Toodle pip.Crack on Boris...No deal.ASAP

There is of course the rest of the world, maybe they would be willing to slum it and trade with us.

That's an interesting idea.

Ellal has the UK always been a net contributor to the UK and did the EU ever help out the poor man of Europe?
