Hi all,

can anyone help me with the best options for bathroom floor tiles (porcelain), to go over floorboards of 1960s house which are in reasonable nick but have been chopped into by plumbers over the years. I was thinking to glue and screw down the boards, overlay with 6mm cement board, then tile onto that - would that provide enough solidity. I have some 9mm ply which could also be added but I'm worried about bring the floor up too much...

Thanks in advance...

6mm backer board will be better than cement board. Look for the foam between reinforced fibre type stuff. Wickes sell it.
