Hi

I've got a block paved area of bricks that are laid on top of sand and the underneath a concrete base.

I'd like to securely mount a metal pergola, but mounting to the bricks won't do much as they can lift, and it would look funny dropped bellow brick level to the concrete as a mounting point.

Would it be reasonable to use strong epoxy to bond the bricks to the concrete and then drill into the bricks as a solid mounting point?

Many thanks

Hi, I was hoping to secure the block to the ground concrete, then secure the pergola the block I had laid with the manufacturer ground bolts.
Many thanks

If you mean that you hoped to cement the brick to the concrete, you’ll be lucky.
Even using a strong epoxy type adhesive in place of mortar to hold the brick paver won’t survive wind on a structure.
Especially if there’s a roof or plating.

The link above shows rally long concrete screws that would pass through slightly larger holes in the paving and anchor into the sub base ,. They tap a thread into a pre drilled and sized hole.

Only other way would be to lift the paver that each leg sits on, fix ties of some sort that come up the sides when the paver is refitted. Then fix the Gaz. Likely it would look horrible

Without giving it too much thought I would look to fixing bases direct down to the concrete slab and trim the block paving around the posts. You are likely to need some kind of spacers underneath the pergola bases to get the thing level eg washers unless your concrete base is 100% level? A link to the pergola you want to fit might help.
