Does anyone know where i can get an old style cooker switch cover from? I have an old one here which is pretty battered and needs replacing. I dont want to replace the entire socket for a new one, as that would mean a lot of filling as the old socket is far larger than the new style ones.

The dims are

w: 16.5 cm
h: 18 cm

It's white (well, it was) and it has a power socket and switch, as well as a cooker switch. The two switches themselves are the large red lever style ones.

Anyone know of a source ? I havent managed to find anywhere yet.

Old Cooker Switches.

Why WERE they so big and ugly in those days?

wasnt it the old wiring which was so hard to manouver and thick that you needed a large cavity behind the socket to move the thicker cooker wire about the place.

these units were the norm 25-35 years ago

standard council spec.

almost all council houses here built 1955-1975 had one of these in as standard
