Supporting Ukraine

Countries around the world are getting angry about being told by America who they can trade with and who they can't.
Where do you get this stuff? Which countries are crying out to keep Russia in the Swift system?

None?

I am constantly amazed at how many Putin-apologists there are out there in the west. If Putin's behaviour is so right why is it that Sweden and Finland are now both seriously considering NATO membership (and Putin has threatened them over that, too, which has turned public opinion in both countries even further towards NATO membership)? Why is it that after, oh, 500-odd years of neutrality the Swiss have actually imposed financial sanctions against Russia? There are all these crocodile tears being cried about how the west has treated poor Putin's Russia, but over the last 30 years how well has Russia behaved towards its' neighbours?

Having worked with a number of guys from the former Warsaw pact countries what was not surprising is how few of them wanted to be back in Russia's orbit again. Russia deliberately kept them poor, kept them subjugated by the presence of an army of occupation, stifled free speech, shut down independent politics, controlled their lives and spied on them in a way we just don't comprehend in the west. Little wonder that after the break-up of the Soviet Union they wanted to join NATO and then the EU. One thing they all seem to want (apart from prosperity) is security from being attacked

And I read this morning that even China have said that they will 'protect' their financial position regarding Russia. Which is code for we are cutting them off without actually saying so.

Listening to the Polish foreign minister earlier, he was saying Europe has brought this on the self: over the last 20 years Europe has bought more and more cheap Russian oil and gas…….and it’s that revenue which has funded Putins war machine.

It Russia gets Ukraine, it will finds itself with a dangerous dictator with a thousand mile border.

strawman argument, I never mentioned swift.
You said that Putins days were numbered because of the exclusion of Russian banks from the global banking system and that would include the SWIFT messaging service.
I just don't want you to be disappointed when find that rather than topple Putin these sanctions will only make life more difficult for the poorest and most vulnerable folks in both Russia and Europe.
Russian oil revenues are going through the roof thanks to the rise in the price of oil and you and i are paying for it.
Show me an example of economic sanctions toppling a dictator and i will send you a million Roubles, they won't be worth anything but you can always burn them to heat your home as that will work out cheaper than buying gas.

Because of the expansionist policy of the EU and NATO.
The EU is throwing petrol on the fire by supplying weapons to Ukrainians to kill each other.
Historically Russia has always been a reliable supplier of oil and gas to Europe, even at the height of the cold war the supply of gas was uninterrupted.
It is the EU who is weaponising the question of Russian gas into Europe.

of Putin's Russian Empire.
Exactly!
We are witnessing the clash of empires in Europe.
One empire recedes and another expands, Ukraine is just an unfortunate pawn in the game.

over the last 30 years how well has Russia behaved towards its' neighbours?
It gave its neighbours their independence on the understanding that they wouldn't allow their countries to become militerised.
These countries were not liberated by the west.

Total nonsense ex-USSR, Russia was in no position to apply such limitations.
Ukraine had been a member, in its own right, of UN in 1948/49 and 1984/85

Your arguments are all pro Putin.

why is that?
