SURFACE MOUNT TAP ON LAMINATE WORKTOP

i'M INSTALLING NEW LAMINATE AT WEEKEND AND I HAVE A SHOWER TYPE SURFACE MOUNT TAP. iS THERE ANYTHING I SHOULD DO TO THE LAMINATE TO PROTECT IT WHERE THE TAP ATTACHES (damn caps) or just load well with silicon?

Seal the tap hole with waterproof varnish/sealer or some other waterproofer....that way if you do have a leak it won't blow out the fibre/chip board inner.

Would a bit of gloss paint do the trick?

Gloss paint will be fine, do a couple of coats.
Ensure you do not miss any exposed board, or edges.
