Hi, I have a Swann outback camera monitoring my drive it records all movement onto sd card, but I'm finding a 2 to 3 second delay between the PIR sensor picking up movement then starting to record, hence as you walk towards it and the infrareds shine there is a delay of a few seconds before recording, so it's just picking up the top of heads, I wondered would a faster sd card help,

Hi,

Unfortunately, the SD card is just a storage bank. This is a long shot, but might be worth a try:- If you could angle the detector so that it starts to pick up at a distance further away from the camera, then by the time the intruder is actually within range the recording has already started. I am assuming that you have a seperate detector apart from the Swann camera, if not, then we'll have to try something else.

You could put a 4 second video delay unit between the camera and the recorder. When the recorder is started the delayed image will be what happened 4 seconds earlier.

It's one of those cheap nasty all in one jobbies.

Pay pennies but expect quality performance.

I have tried actually, to angle it as much as possible but as it has to be out if reach and about 10 to 15 feet on my porch it makes no difference?

actually it's a very good product, and certainly not pennies, it's actually more used for nature shots ie foxes deer etc, but its use for security is also possible as its totally independent.

Hi Securit,

Well you've tried the angle bit, so we need to think of something else. I don't know what your using in the way of camera and detector, but it may be possible to link a seperate and independent detector with a range of perhaps 30 metres via relay to your existing in order to trip it that few seconds earlier. Thing is though, I would need to know where to find the pdf file for your system. But we'll get there I'm sure.

Take Care Mate,

Seemingly not.

And i stand by my original comment.

Strange !!!! I thought this forum was for getting advise and help, some people must lead sad lives with nothing better to do then leave snide remarks !!!

thanks, but I think I will have to manage as it is, it's not really designed for this type of use, although its a nifty piece of equipment and weatherproof, totally independent, and your able to put it virtually anywhere for covert monitoring.

Nothing snide at all.
Perfectly clear answer.
And my original comment wasn't directed at you specifically, just the kit.
It ain't up to the task. You don't like the answer, doesn't mean it's wrong.

as I said before, its an excellent piece of equipment, but not really designed for what I want it for, I just wanted to know if there was anyway of tweaking it at all, I am looking for possible solutions not negativity.
