I have this old radiator to swap is 1150mm by 550mm. I am looking at swapping for a 1100mm by 600mm rad. Would a double or Pplus be best?

Old Myson imperial Round top - is it a Type 22, 2 sets of fins?

I would go with a Type 22 (K2) regardless TBH.

Top of the radiator is 80mm thick. Think modern K2s are 100mm thick

OK it's a Type 22, so it would need to be replaced with a Type 22 (K2), to get anywhere near the same output.

They still make imperial myson round tops, they aint cheap though.

That's too close to that wall IMO, that will draw heat from the rad into the wall, want a bit of a gap in there.

Would a modern Pplus not be similar output?
Nope - P+ has a single row of convectors so wouldn't normally have the same effective output. Even though those rads are old, they were very advanced for their time. They were really the first to be designed as true convecting radiators as we know them today and had a comparable output, even though they were designed with a higher delta in mind

Thanks yes. Is just the projection from the wall that is a concern. Radiator at the moment is 80mm think a modern double is 100mm think a plus 70mm

As suggested, I would recommend the distance from the wall is changed anyway, for me it is too tight to the wall as it is, there really should be a gap down the back of the rad for air flow. Coupled with the thicker rad then it would be coming out further, unless that's not an option?

Yes I was doing to space the clips off the new rad. By 10mm. A double may look over powering too far stuck in to the room

The thins are bigger on a modern Pplus rads. So the heat output maybe similar

Nope - Not usually - The heat output is the heat output, the larger fins just allow the rad to convect more efficiently, so heat a given space more effectively.

600x1100 Type21 (P+) = ~1500w
600x1100 Type 22 (K2) = ~1920w

Myson Round Top Type 22 (K2) imperial -
530x1149 = ~ 1850w

Would 350 watts be noticeable?
My other option would be a 600x1200 type 21. If I could up move the pipework up a bit
