Hi

I've managed to get hold of some industrial spec T5 flourescent fittings that are advertised as taking 4* 54w T5 tubes.

I imagine that my garage would be visible from space with that kind of lighting power and didn't know if I can use lower wattage tubes with the higher power control gear?

This would be a no brainer with a normal incandescent fitting but I'm not too clued up with flourescents.

If you try and use lower wattage tubes than specified they will not last very long as the ballast will not limit the current to the correct level.
If the tubes are wired in pairs (ie two ballasts) then you can just fit two tubes.
