Hello
We have bought a bungalow with a garage that has been built onto the side of it. I don't yet know if it was built with the bung as it has a flat roof unlike the rest of the structure. It is not big enough for a car, but would be good for a storage space but we'd like to remove the door and brick the front up with a window in it. We wouldn't alter it inside, we'd just like to ditch the door. Would this need lots of complicated paperwork? Not planning hopefully...

Losing a garage may invoke the wrath of planning due to you losing a parking space, unless you have adequate alternative off-road space for parking on your driveway.

Why would anyone want to remove a garage door when the the purpose of the garage is solely for storage? Or are you using the old "I'm only using it for storage, honest guv" excuse, like loft conversion dodgers? Eyebrows may be raised and curtains may start to twitch if someone gets scent that you are having a garage conversion.

Is there internal door access from the main dwelling?

Do you intend heating this space?

If it turns out you were using it for habitable space then you would need to upgrade the floor walls and roof if they have not already been done, in order to satisfy reg's and stay legal.
