Hi guys,

Quick query about tanking.. Do i need to tank the plasterboard on the celing in a shower enclosure? I have had mould appear on the celing in the past due to the moisture.

And also, is it possible to plaster/skim over the tanked area? i.e. will it hold?

Thanks

Tanking is aimed at walls and floors to prevent water from getting out of the bath/shower area.

Mould appearing on your ceiling indicates that the moist air is not escaping from your bathroom, tanking would not cure this.

Options.

Ventilate the room after using the bath/shower.

Fit an extractor fan.

Paint the ceiling with mouldproof paint.
