I like Tap Revivers. They provide all new working parts (except the seat) and a smart new capstan, and are far easier than getting a seized old tap off the basin or bath it's cemented itself to. They are even quicker than cleaning up and rewashering the old tap
I was thinking, is there any reason I can't take the tops off a pair of new taps, and fit it to the bottom half of an old tap? Sometimes I might see end-of-range taps going cheap; and I also then have the time to clean, descale, polish and rewasher the old headworks, and reassemble with silicone grease and PTFE tape, which will enable me to swap it onto another tap later on
Is there something I've missed? Is there any reason they shouldn't fit?
