I must admit that, when I've nothing better to do, I sometimes pick up and play along either by asking the caller to hang on for a minute whilst I turn off a (imaginary) pan of milk or asking him/her lots of inane questions.
I do like it when they sound exasperated.
I just know that someone is going to come along now and take me to task for being nasty to some poor bu**er who's only doing their job. Do I care?
