On the schedule of inspections, under (c) Protection against indirect contact - When is the 'Presence of residual current device' box ticked?

Also the 'Use of Class 11 equipment' - Does a double insulated emergency light fitting fall with this?

thanks

do you mean class 2? clas 2 is anything double uninsulated and does not require an earth

andrew,

not always the case - check your osg. Some of their example test sheets have trcds but the box in question is not 'ticked'

It depends if, without the RCD, the EEBADS required disconnection time would still be met, or if the RCD is so to say in the critical path. In a TT system with a 200 ohm earth impedance, and a 30A fuse, for example, the RCD is the main method for ensuring safe disconnection for a live to earth fault.

Alternatively, on a PME system with an EFLI of <0.5 ohm, then the MCB or fuse will do the disconnection in time, the RCD is just an additional nicety.
hope my understanding is right, and that the explanation came accross OK.
regards M.
