I run an HMO (house in Multiple Occupation) - and am required to have the electrics Tested and Certified - I am in the process of doing so.
The old Consumer Unit did not have any RCD protection, a new CU has been installed with RCDs (and to provide new ways for a loft extension).
The old CU simply had MCB's - would such a CU require replacing for an RCD protected CU to allow for testing and certifying, or could the old CU (assuming the loft ways were not required) still have been allowed to stay.
