Hi,

I currently have a ComIP which works with the "Texecom Connect" app, but obviously the app is old and a bit rough now. I'm changing ISP and will be losing my Static IP address, so this might be a good opportunity to move to a Smartcom - I have a few questions though...

1) Will the ComIP work with a dynamic DNS account, if I lose the static IP?
2) I've read rumours of it being required to be an installer to register a Smartcom? Is that true?
3) Can I use the ComIP and Smartcom simultaneously?

I've got a PE48 with an 8XP-W.

Thanks.

Apologies the comip would send to the old app which wasn’t connect.

DNS account would help get your externally public ip address, however you may need help if the external ip address is shared or cgnat to get it to work. Not an IT expert.

End users have been able to register an installer account

Your panel version may limit you.

Thanks for the response. It's the "non-Connect" app I'm using.

Fortunately my panel version is pretty upto date. 6.0.xxxx

Is it still possible to use the old app with the Smartcom? I like the virtual keypad, but want something a bit nicer for the day to day arming and disarming.

Hmmm.

Yes you could potentially, just don’t get rid of your old com ip unit and you might need a comport plus adapter.

You should be able to setup the smart com and use its comip unit.

However the old app may disconnect. If it does you can setup the old comip app seperately with the comport plus adapter.

It’s a shame on the original version of connect there was a virtual keypad.

Apologies for the delay. Smartcom ordered along with a Comport+.

Job for next week!

Appreciate the help.
