hi, got a small problem with our veritas R8, changed battery a few months ago and now the smoke alarms which are wired into the system only sound on the internal speaker, not the external siren, is there any way to sort this out???

AFAIK, the external sounder cannot be changed when a fire zone is triggered. You probably pulled one of the wires out for the bell trigger. Try doing a bell test, and see if it works.
