Not been to Lanzagrotty, my favourite with the kids is Puerto Rico at Gran Canaria, at the top of the mountain, breathtaking view, loads of English restaurants, it is the hottest place of all the islands and sheltered from the trade wind coming from Africa.

ps: plenty of taxis out there about 300 euro from top to bottom beach or 15 mins walk down to the beach

300euro for a taxi. I could buy one for that much!

Hi,

My son(14),and his mother have been to Calpe twice now, they really enjoy it there and would return there again.

I on the other hand dont do holidays abroad.

Damn, I'm back. :(

Read my post in the " music download " topic

I did, but rather than hijack someones else's post, I'll answer here.

Well I was surprised at Lanzarote. I confess I wasn't expecting much, you know, loads of English pubs and Chav's etc, however, whilst there were these kind of places around, on the whole, it was reasonably upmarket. The weather was good, not too hot, around 35 - 38 degrees, but with the constant wind, it always felt pleasant.

Food was an issue as usual in Spain / Islands of. but we did manage to find a great local Tapas bar in a place called Yiaza (spelling?) In which we managed a meal, and a round of drinks for 5 for just over 16 euros!

Unfortunately because the holiday was good, I'm really in a bad mood about my imminent return to the grindstone.

As for not posting whilst I was away, I'll leave you to figure that one out !!

Oh, and my hanging baskets are dead, despite asking the neighbours to water them, and my tomatoes too. :( :(

Have a good 'un, I must say I'm almost beside myself with jealousy. Before I went on holiday, I reckon I'd have cheerfully taken a 2 week vaction in Basra!
