Indeed.other fiction is avaiable...The bible is utter nonsense, especially as a 21st century moral compass

Historically speaking over and over its been proved to be historically accurate due to archelogical evidence proving it to be true. This isn't an opinion.
So as an historical record it's factual, that can't be argued with. As to place names, Kings names etc etc. It's accurate

Not relevant as a 21st century moral compass. ...not stealing ? murdering ? ......treat other people like you'd like to be treated ?

Ok let's hear your better suggestions on a moral standpoint.

No mention of god, then - or America.

Just common sense - lacking in other holy books, why is that?

Ok let's hear your better suggestions on a moral standpoint.
There might not be one. Does that mean you are the son of god?

No, No, No. That's three things you've stated that strictly speaking are a terminological inexactitude ! In other words plainly wrong.
But many take it as fact!..There lies the root of the problem..brainless people choosing which bits of the bible are fact and influence many with their gross stupidity.

God is] a vindictive bloodthirstyethnic cleanser , a misogynistic, homophobic racist, an infanticidal, genocidal, phillicidal, pestilential, megalomaniacal, sadomasochistic, capriciously malevolent bully.”Richard Dawkins.common sense
So I wonder which way the imaginary friend would have voted in the referendum? :)

As such, Richard Dawkins - like all other agnostic atheists - is uncertain of whether or not any gods exist, but he rejects the idea that they do. This is because he is unsatisfied with the evidence put forward for the existence of any god, but - naturally - is unable to prove the non-existence of such a being (because one cannot prove a negative).

There may be fairies at the bottom of the garden. There is no evidence for it, but you can't prove that there aren't any, so shouldn't we be agnostic with respect to fairies?

Richard Dawkins, (b. 1941) Briti

The stories in the Bible about the creation and the messiah ect. are alleged to have been based on legends form earlier religions.
Zoroastrian texts talk about one God and messiahs, the story of the flood is replicated in others religions also.
The Egyptian book of the dead has rules about adultery and not stealing, the only evidence of Jews being slaves in Egypt comes from the bible, there isn't a single reference in the Egyptian records of Jews ever being in Egypt.

Ellal...you must bore the tits off people with brexit
Hmm...

I reckon a certain dumb quitter/plumber takes the laurels where that is concerned.
(Or should gasbanni take the top step on the podium?)

But this was interesting...

All we have to do is replace 'bible' with another 'b' word, and your logic is indeed very sound...

That other 'b' word of course is 'bus' (y)

And with banks providing the bullion to accompany the b ullshit, what could possibly go wrong

Tis all b ollox!

Funny how you turn most threads into brexit. I also find it amusing that you're more upset about brexit, which will affect a few million folk and yet the bible and other religions have brought much more misery and destruction and will continue to do so. You don't see so concerned about that...

Ah, so being concerned about present events negates concerns about centuries of recurring events?

You may find it amusing that millions of 'folk' currently stand to suffer, but more enlightened people don't!

So may I suggest that before making stupid mistakes when trying to understand what other people actually think, maybe it would be best for you to ponder long and hard before your brain (such as it is) instructs your typing finger ;)

Turning every thread you possibly can about brexit with your weak connections, using every opportunity to have a childish snipe at people is tiresome.
Why don't you use that (oh so not clever) brain of yours are realise that actually, it's unwanted and unappreciated and give people a break. Just stick to moaning in the brexit threads, lord knows there's enough of them.
