The Ford motor

A mate painted his Lambretta with the small pots of Humbrol that he nicked from the model shop

I said, "I'm not sure I agree with you about Chinese support".
China initially supported the Khmer regime, as a counter to Russia's communist influence in SE Asia.
They didn't support Pol Pot's genocidal policies. we were obviously discussing Pol Pot and the genocidal events.
Pol Pot had the money and war machines of the US. He merely had support from China to counter the Russian influence. He had no military or financial support from China.
Although pol Pot certainly liked to play his two faced political games with all and sundry.
It isn't a straight this way or that way choice. It's nuanced, and like many other issues, dependent on one's viewpoint.
A load of bull, China supported them with military/economic aid all the way through the genocide, every article available states this, you alone can't change the history, it's not even debatable.

Thats two of us, the smell of the glue and Humbrol paint

Once, after spending days painstakingly assembling and painting an airfix ME109, I doused it in lighter fluid, set it alight and threw it out the bedroom whilst screaming 'gott in himmel'.

As did Margaret Thatcher.

And not just "initially"

After his overthrow, her government backed Pol Pot in exile in Thailand

Khmer Rouge representatives were allowed to continue occupying Cambodia’s seat at the UN; indeed, the US, China and Britain insisted on it.

Hmmmm

Stretching it a bit imo

thank goodness you didn't try to use this as an excuse for Thatcher's government.
No idea what your on about:confused: i was talking about China arming the Khmer Rouge during the genocide, 5 years before Thatcher came to power, which the poster i replied to denied.
Surely you can't blame her for that.

At about the age of 16-17 I stuffed all mine full of French bangers and blew them up, or shot them with an air rifle. I think it's a rite of passage into adulthood.
