The wasp-nest principle

I was listening to a humourous radio program, which claimed the the best approach to dealing with terrorism is "the wasp-nest principle."

i.e.

If you are stung by a wasp, the best thing to do is to follow it back to its nest, and repeatedly hit the nest with a big stick until the little stripeys have learned their lesson.


Does this sound at all familiar?
