Can anybody help? Last winter we had work done on the oil boiler, which was new in Autumn 2008. This year, after being worked on, it was fine for 3 months until we switched it off for the summer.
Now, most times it won't fire until the reset button is pressed repeatedly. Today it took 10 resets to make it work. The colder it is outside the worse this seems to be. There was a strong smell of kerosene when it did light - the first time it lit it only ran for a few seconds, then fired successfully the next time.
This makes the timer pointless and if we aren;t in the house is sub-zero. After paying £58 per hour plus VAT to get to this state of perfection last time we're not keen to get the person who did it back.
Does anyone have any clues what's happening with this? And more importantly, what to do about it? It's -5.5C tonight.
