Just a general question but was thinking today......do universal thermocouples fit most boilers, and are you legally allowed to fit these or do you have to use manufacturer ones?

How would I know if I could use a universal t/c on a particular boiler?

Thanks

universal TC's DONT NOT fit all boilers, I know but "universal" is a bit of a misnome

Some boilers have very specific TC's which you can only get from the manufactuerer

what boiler do u have?

It will either fit or it wont!. some are obvious like simes, leblancs and solos. Some are less so clear cut. I don't know anyone who uses manufacturer tc's....be very surprised if even the manufacturers service agents do.

Its not for me, its my mates. He says it can be temperemental and thats what got me thinking. He has an old potterton but not sure of the model
