Radiator fitted with TVR did not work when switched on during recent cold snap. Removed cover and pin was stuck in "in" position. Pulled pin out gently with pliers, but radiator still cold (except for slight rise in temperature, presumably from convection) What should I try next?

Do not pull pin out! Push it in firmly (use flat metal blade to press, then release pressure, then apply, etc., etc., etc., etc. Eventually the spring inside will push the pin out.
