What do people think is better, hanging a door on three decent hinges or two hinges and a pair of hinge security bolts like these?

This is to up the security on an internal door. The door uses a hardwood door frame fitted with a fairly heavy fire door.

I would go for hinge bolts definitely, particularly if the hinge pin is exposed. The intruder will know where the hinges are but has no idea the pins are fitted.

a fairly heavy fire door.

Needs three substantial hinges anyway, but add pins if you want.

Lift-off hinges are much more convenient for heavy doors. Ironmongerydirect has a good range.

You might also consider injecting fire-resisting expanding foam between the lining and the wall. As well as blocking draughts, noise, smoke and flame, it sets firm and glues the lining into place, useful if someone tries kicking it or if you have a teenage daughter who likes slamming doors. It dries pink but the architrave will cover it.

By lining do you mean door frame? The gap is very small so will have trouble getting foam in there. The door frame is aligned to within 1mm using window packers.
