three and a half grand

it is there hotel, its there buisness, its there property, they should have the freeedom to choose who stays or not.
there is plenty of hotels they could have gone to.move on.
no they just wanted to pick a fight.

what about the gay only hotels,if they want that freedom, then respect others freedoms.

From what I recall of contract law, if you are offering goods or services, you can choose to do business with who you like, that is, you are under no obligation to sell goods or provide a service to someone just because they request it. Perhaps the owners of the guest house should have said, 'no, you are not staying here', without giving a reason.

Yes you can choose to do business with who you like as long as you don't discriminate against somebody because of certain characteristics.

So, for example, if you provide a bus service. You cannot make black people get on one bus and white people get on another.

Talkin to an asian guy today and apparently gays aren't too welcome in the local mosque. Guess that's OK though ?

Is it illegal then at camp sites in the South West to hang a board out saying 'No Travellers' ??

The original story was that they booked a room online (if memory serves me correct, they also phoned up to check if it was OK to bring their pet dog) and there was no indication anywhere on the website nor during the conversation that they would not be welcome.

As such, it differs from the cases cited on here where discrimination is clearly advertised (which is no doubt an argument in it's own right ) .

IMHO the hoteliers should have bitten the bullet and let them stay, and the subsequently make their policy clear.

I think you are right. However, the owners could have requested politely instead of laying down a dictat of either sleep separately or pi$$ off

maybe should of said on website, due to our believes gays are welcome but must sleep in seperate rooms.
also that goes whith unmarried couples, must sleep in seperate rooms.

as someone said it was vindictive to sue them.

What P's me off is their gay pride marches etc. i'm proud to be hetro sexual but i try not to make a song and dance about it, why are they always ramming it down our throats? live and let live, what consenting adults do behind closed doors is their perogative, as long as they dont involve children or animals.

I don't want to think that a bed I've rented for a night has had a couple of blokes poking each other in the chops prior to my using it.

It's strange though that we don't get to hear of a couple of lesbians refused a room for the night. Do they keep quite about it or................
