Three Phase question

I think someone has already done the maths, as for the last good few years, washing machines have not had a hot feed for this very reason.
Yes, we've often discussed that. However, in that case I think it's as much a case of the hot feed being 'useless' as of it being wasteful of energy, since the machines now use so little water that, even with a 'hot feed', little if any hot water would ever get into the machine unless the pipe runs were very short!

True. If one's only concerns were financial, one would obviously have to do the sums, since water is probably fairly cheap in comparison with energy.

Depends how hot, I worked out by looking at the meters that our shower, possibly in summer, was using more for water (0.2p per litre) then the gas.
