i'm about to start tiling my bathroom with 600x300 porcelan tile which are 8mm thick, the adhesive i've got is tubbed mapei called "mapegrip D1" i've since read up and most people don't seem to like using tubbed adhesive, my question is would this tubbed adhesive still be ok to use or do i need to get something else, i've had it for a while now so i'm not sure if i can take it back but i don't want my tile to fall of the wall either

Personally I would use a powdered cementicious adhesive for large and wieghty porcelain tiles on walls - Flexible products from mapei, bal, granfix or benfer are fine. Some manufacturers do claim that certain of their flex tubs are ok for large format tiles, but the grip when placing can be a problem. If you use powder - remember , it tends to all be fairly quick setting
