Afternoon,
I have tile cutter which has decided to just stop & ive got 6 tiles left to cut.
On the on/off switch there are Green & Red buttons.

There are 2 terminals which are marked IN & also 2 marked OUT
The 2 marked OUT are both Black and go either side of the motor.
The 2 marked IN are one Brown & one Blue.

As a test i need to make sure the switch is at fault.
Can you advise please which wires i need to join together just so i can see if the motor spins.
Would it be Brown to Black wire & Blue to the other Black wire ?

I can then order a new switch etc.
Many thanks.

Yes, you will be fine testing your motor that way.....I don't suppose the machine has been slightly overheating after a lot of use? If so, the thermo switch will reset itself, if applicable.
John :)

It was in a sealed bag in the shed for a couple of months but apart from that all working fine so i need to test.

Assuming the switch is at fault does it amtter which black wire goes on which OUT terminal ?

Also same question for Brown & Blue wire on the IN terminal.

I assume that the Black can be put on either OUT termical.

I also assume the Brown & Blue can also be put on either IN terminal.

Is that correct.

If there are no polarity markings on the switch, then you are correct...its highly unlikely that markings will be there.

Hi,
Ive connected the wires but no joy.
I then connected the wires back to the on / off switch.
Turning the power on the coil is energised and the green on button is held down.
Motor still wont spin etc.

Ive visually looked at the brushes and plenty of meat on them.
Motor spins fine by hand so not jammed /seized etc.

Strange

If you’ve connected the motor directly to the mains and still no joy it sounds like the motor has gone AWOL.....no burning smell I suppose?
John :)
