Tile over vinyl tiles.

Is it possible lay slate tiles over vinyl floor tiles either directly or by using a self levelling cement first?

The reason I ask is that old vinyl floor tiles contain Asbestos and I dont really want to go pulling them up.

Most manufacturers of floor adhesive suggest you use a flexible powderd adhesive on vinyl
