Hi,

I want to lay vinyl tiles over existing ceramic tiles.

Can I get away with just filling in the grout lines or do I need to cover the whole floor with self levelling compound?

Many thanks

if your grout lines are flush with the faces of the tiles AND they are Clean and FREE of GREASE and DUST then you should be able to lat vinyl tiles

unfortunately they are not flush. the grout lines are lower, do i just need to fill them or do i still need to pour sl compund over the whole floor?

Thanks

personally i would lift the tiles then SLS, BUT you can just give the tiles a good scrubbing then lay your SLS, then your vinyl tiles, obviously when the SLS has set

OR

You could rake out as much old grout as you possibly can, then regrout the floor and get the grout level with the faces of the tiles, then lay your vinyl tiles

if your fitting over ceramic tiles(and dont WANT to lift them)..
then clean tiles with sugar soap/dry them..
then use a 2 part slc(latex based)..
then i would advise a adhesive from.. F-BALL.. styccobond range.
