I read in a previous thread that it's ok to lay porcelain tiles over vinyl tiles, does this also apply to slate tiles over vinyl tiles? also a couple of vinyl tiles have lifted but vinyl tile underneath are sound can i just put extra adhesive under them to compensate thanks

Not porcelain tiles.... adhesive suitable for porcelain tiles. Same applies with slate.
Yes just fill in the voids with adhesive.
