I have a low garden wall which I want to add mosaic tiles to but the bricks are quite bumpy so It will need smoothing out first. Should I render it or use plaster bonding?
Thanks

The wall is only about 16” so it seems a lot of hassle. Also because the bricks are so bumpy it’d be a pain getting a fixing

OP,
what you propose works in hot countries but less successful over here.
the soaking, freezing and expanding can blow off low level tiles.

this is a double post mate. i replied to the post in building.

dont ever use bonding on the exterior.

Rendered garden walls don't last long in our weather conditions hence why I mentioned cement board and something like CT1 to stick your tiles on.

Wife tiled a garden table ( mosaic) frost got under surface and after a couple of years most of the tile surface had blown .
