I intend to fully tile my bathroom but one of the walls is a stud partition wall.

The tiles I intend to use are actually floor tiles.

Is it ok to tile a stud partition wall or is it likely to fall down?

All I know about the wall is that it isn't a brick wall.

I was told by Topps that I would be ok if I stuck some Tile Backerboard up onto the stud wall first.

Is that correct?

A plasterboard & skim surface will only take a load of 20kg/m2 which is on the limit for most floor tiles. If the plasterboard is not skimmed then you will be OK at that will take 32kg/m2. A tilebacker board will be even better at 50kg/m2 and will not deteriorate if it gets wet.
