Our kitchen floorboards (T+G 8*2 chipboard) doesn't seem to be fixed to any joists. Just loose on top of polystyrene blocks.

I plan on tiling the floor. What preparation would you advise? There is a lot of give in the floor, although no apparent unevenness.

My main concern is that there is no joists to fix the flooring.

Like always I'm looking for a cost efficient solution that will stand the test of time,

I suspect this is a relatively new design as the property is only 12 years old.

Topps Tiles advised plywood (if so would hardboard suffice?) and a latex adhesive.

Any advice, greatly appreciated!

Cheers

Darryl
