I'm sure this has been asked thousands of times before, and I know it could be considered a 'bodge'. However we've just redecorated our kitchen and want to re-tile the splashbacks. Cant risk stripping the tiles as they are drylined and in danger of taking the plasterboard off. Can we tile over tile given that we're only talking about 500mm high, or should it be avoided altogether? We can't remove the tiles now so it's either overtile, or nothing at all.
Thanks

You can but they will stick out more than they would have done and how will you deal with the edge?

Plasterboard is about 2 quid a square metre, rip it off along with the tiles and piece in a new bit. Cut the edges around the tiles first so you don't take off more than you intended. Run the new tiles over the cut edge to hide it

Alternatively you could use a cladding board to stick over the top.

They look very modern and cut easily to size
