All for the 'pride' of NATO...for once the frogs have got it right.

The simple answer...

To crush the Taliban because they allowed the al-Qaeda terrorists to operate from their territory.

But you can't defeat guerilla fighters that live in the mountains and strike and retreat at will, without the help of adjoining nations like Pakistan.
Modern armies are designed to face an opponent on the battlefield...How can you destroy an enemy that looks indistinguishable from the local civilian population? Military intelligence is only of use if the locals are all on your side...and they're not.
Pakistan has now banned the use of their roads to NATO supply traffic.

Bin Laden was long gone when Barack Obama perjured himself by saying that they had caught Bin Laden, had this been true would they really have dumped the body at sea? I think not!

Just remember, when the Afghans were fighting the Russians, the Taliban were supplied with weapons by the US. Only once they were back in power did the US turn against their way of ruling the Afghan people.

That's not why they join. I would imagine most do because they want to be a soldier, the campaign is largely irrelevant.

A soldier should be prepared to fight to protect his family and country from a threat to their freedom and way of life...Not to be sent across the world to force other people to live the way our politicians think they should.

Ummmm. If history is anything to go by, there has only been one country daft enough to use one. And we are now their bum chums in advocating nuclear disarmament. Funny world we live in.
