Hi all, does anyone know what timber prices are like atm. Are they going up again or down?

Up up up, I don't think they'll come anytime soon.

a lot of birch ply comes from Russia
a lot of Birch plywood comes from Latvia and Finland - and was shipped by Russian carriers.
Russia has 20% of the worlds trees.
I wouldn’t bother buying any Siberian Larch anytime soon

Timber merchants nearby have loads of stock but they said the prices are hardly coming down, just at least they have something to sell us at the moment. This time last year they were buying whatever they could get which was not very much.
Sawmills are about to get hit with a big tax bill when the rules on red diesel change and they have to start using white, so prices will have to go up to cover this.
