timed bathroom extrator fan does not continue when light off

hi i have installed a timed bathroom extrator fan of the light now the fan is supposed to continue on what ever setting you have set it to after when you switch of the light. do you have to run another mains to it there are 3 conectors on it switched live permanent live and neutral. were can i bring the other live from.

is there a permanent live at the light?if not you cantake it from the light switch.

It should come from the light switch, as it's important to insure that both the switched and permanent live are originating from the same circuit!!

You're also supposed to install a 3-pole fan isolator switch

These look rather like

This allows the fan to be safely isolated (live, switched live and neutral) so that it can be cleaned.
