Hi guys

Picture below is the space I am working with. Distance from the edge of the white pipe to the false wall framing is 6 inches. Further to my previous thread last night ("Now I am not happy"), I have cut away part of the tile to gain access to the soil stack and replace the flexible hose which connected the pan to the stack. It had a very small rip in the pipe causing the leak behind the false wall.

Can this 90 degree WC pan connectors be cut to shorten the straight run?

Can the ribbed rubber seal be removed and the pipe shortened to suit my setup? Can other "connectors" be placed between the collar of the above connector and the actual toilet pan flange.... i.e. I don't think the above would reach the toilet pan. Would need to add something else to then connect to the toilet - is this ok?

I don't want to use a flexible connector if at all possible due to the current problem, but I may not have much choice.

Would really appreciate your comments / help!! :)

Thank you

hi the rubber on the end of that bent pan connector is not fixed and will slide along, then you can cut off the bit not wanted, make sure you allow enough to go inside the pipe about 4 inch,
it also looks like you might have to use another st connector to reach the pan unles you get a long kneck one

yes you can cut to the length you want
i've see two multis inside it other but i try to avoid it.

why don't you change you existing white pipe in the pic, and use a length of 110mm soil pipe, then 110mm 90 degree bend, then a straight pan connector into the bend.

Thanks gasmick2 and Seco services for replying. In answer to Seco's comment about replacing the existing pipe I'm a little apprehensive about removing that in case I cannot get it back in properly given the limited access I have. What is the difference in what you are suggesting (Seco) and just adding a 90 degree bend into the existing pipe?

So I could cut the 90 bend, insert into the existing pipe and then use something like this to connect from the 90 bend to the pan? I am not too bothered about using a flexi connector as long as it's on my side of the false wall. Last thing I want is water seeping from behind the tiles again!!

hi the rubber on the end of that bent pan connector is not fixed and will slide along....

If this seal just slides along the pipe how is it supposed to be forced into the pipe it's joining - won't the seal just slide up the pipe and not make a watertight seal?

a 90 degree pipe onto the existing pipe won't be water tight as a soil pipe is rigid and stronger than the white extension pipe you have their.
is it a cast stack you have or plastic ?

To be honest Seco, I'm not sure whether it's cast or plastic. I've inserted a metal rod and gently tapped and it does not sound like a cast stack. House is approx 7 years old and knowing how these new(ish) house builds are built to a very tight budget I would guess it's plastic. Does this have an impack on your earlier advice of replacing the existing pipe?

Is this what I would replace it with?

As you can tell I am a Screwfic shop-a-holic!!!! :D

i would just pull that other pipe out. nothing to loose.
as it will be a plastic stack.

then insert a section of soil pipe.

then a single socket 90 degree bend.

and cut to length.

Thanks Seco. Is the pipe a friction fit to the stack, how is this made watertight?

right, picked up the 1 metre soil pipe from B&Q on way home and also the 90 bend WC pan connector from SF.

Below is a picture of my stack. Looks like it's pushfit seal. If I insert the end of the soil pipe into the stack will this give an adequate seal?
