Toilet playing up

Push button toilet been playing up.

Cistern to fill up but seem very slowly. Once full, I am able to flush properly.

Watch videos on you tube, but not sure where where to start really.

I have attached picture of the cistern open.

Any tips on where to start and what to check please?

Float valve is knackered. Either fit a new washer (but the SIAMP ones aren't the most reliable things in the world) or chuck the whole lot out and fit this

On the contrary, SIAMP are most reliable.........they're guaranteed to split a washer on an annual basis

Went to B & Q and got spare rubbber which I have replace.

You recommend that product: Fluidmaster Pro45B brass shank fill valve
Any particular reason? versus any others?

Just to build up knowledge for future references or the current one failed again.

Guys,

Flush it this morning and let the cistern filled up.
1/ Found it a bit slow, but this was the first time I watch a cistern filling up!!!!
Good news, I believe it filled up as normal! no pressure water going out the broken seal
I never took notice of that aspect before hand. Maybe I need to increase the flow of water when I turn it off.
For knowledge, how long should that take?

2/ But.... But, It did not stop filling up and kept going.... and then water went over the middle part so dribble in the bassin.

Maybe I did not put it back properly.... But been very carefull, so don't understand why....

Did you line up the little ridge on the plastic part of the washer with the slot in the seat of the valve?

Hi Keego,

As I was watching that Video,

, I realised that the item bought was slightly different.
See picture.

I was not sure which side to put it back last night but with your comment this morning, I try to put the old one back one and realise that the product bought is not suitable - as when putting the old one back on, then it does the pressure things.. water leaking from the broken seal, but when playing with level, it then does stop to fill.

Hurrah!! we are progressing! Shame on B&Q!!!!

The ones off ebay are not suitable, get the one from your local supplier.

Either of those will do but I would get the twin pack as you will need to change these pretty regularly.

Just been with Amazon and nag them as I had issue with previous item ordered, so gonna received the twin pack tomorrow - all for £5.05!!!! Hurrah!!!

All good finger cross that will get sorted!

It's a much better quality valve, longer lifespan in service, and easier to change when if does eventually need it.

I've been called out to a lot of SIAMP valves that aren't working, I think I've only ever changed one Fluidmaster
