CU could be covered by the above that isn't in brackets...
I would intepret "switches for equipment" to mean the switches used for ordinary day to day control of the power to that equipment. Not switches that are merely used to isolate circuits for maintenance/repair/modification or to reset protective devices after a fault.

That's certainly arguable but, in any event, Approved Doc M only presents guidance and recommendations, not regulations or 'requirements'.
