I was advised that air was getting into the fuel line creating a vacum hence in the morning the car started then just stopped after 5 secs with the engine management light coming on.

I got the fuel filter replaced the guy said the threads were bad and if it happened again i would need a new sender unit????

Three weeks of no problems and now the problem has returned.
does this sound right?????
When I pump the fuel through a small drip leaks from the bottom of the filter unit.

Now every morning I have to open the bonnet to pump fuel through to get it started and there is still a drip when the pressure builds up.

Some mornings it fine but in general if the car is not used for more the 6-7 hours I have to do this.
once it starts everything is fine and have no other problems!

does a new sender unit sound right and how much is this job to carry out roughly.

Sounds like the primer pump has a leak - very common, I recently did one on a Peugeot and foolishly ordered a genuine part. About £95. But I could have got a pattern one from the local factors for just under £40. Easy to fit.
