Wow you have my sympathies with this one, Kevin.....Toyota know all about this one but your car is too old to expect any financial help from them. I don't know of any auto box specialists will go near......other than changing the transmission fluid, that is, which improves things very temporarily.
I'm not trying to sound like an a*se here but you need to let the car go.....the nightmare will continue.
John :)

Thank u for your reply the worst thing is I'm still paying finance I wished I never got it

I can drive it some days no problem it's when I stop at lights or junction it shows second then goes into nautral

Hell, I hadn't seen the HJ link
Talking to someone from Gateshead Toyota a while back reckoned they didn't know how to sort it either.
A rotten state, Kevin.

Have you tried changing gears manually, either to use it as a semi automatic, or to get it to readjust itself.

Yes it still does it in manual but some days it's fine I wished I could pin point the problem then I could buy the part shorly it's not all what the garage said I just don't know

Did you not read my link? Or just google the problem, you will find you are not alone.

Hmm OK then, I'm not sure what he will add should he choose your email to reply to out of the hundreds he must get every day, we have our own honest John you know.

I'd very much doubt if you could actually obtain the required parts, even if you could find out what was wrong.....this one even has Toyota scratching their heads and they should know what's what, all they do is to fit a replacement gearbox, or at least most of it.
Any updates will be most welcome!
John :)

Have you looked on the Toyota Owners forum? If anyone has the solution, that's where you'll find it.
