So we've had our electricity tripping randomly..
We have an old fuse board so all the circuits are on a single rcd, so fault finding has been tricky.
We got home today to a burning smell from the area, called an emergency electrician who found the tails going into the meter had come lose, he tightened everything up and said to give the power company a call to replace the actual meter as the screws were knackered.
Could this be causing the tripping on the fuse board? Or do we have another issue ?

Although it's not necessarily solving the problem, a new metal consumer unit with all RCBOs would be a good thing to have.

It will stop you losing everything during a fault, and will help you to narrow down which circuit the fault is on.

This is no substitute for actual fault finding, but when you do get another or a new fault develop, you will be glad when the whole house is not affected.

Ha! thanks for short swift response!
Getting quotes at the moment to replace the fuse box with something more up to date.

Be sure that they will test the whole installation when they fit the consumer unit. It doesn't take all that long.
