Not really plumbing, but I think it's where it's the least worst fit!

I bought a load of bathroom fittings - shelves, toilet roll holder, soap holder, etc etc.

They all have fittings which take a couple of screws into wall plugs. Over the top of these fittings the chrome goes, and hides them. I can't work out what holds the chrome fittings in place.

Am I missing something here? Does it just work when you try it when the fitting is on the wall?

Usually there's a tiny allen screw in the bottom of fittings like these - the wedge shaped plate screws to the wall, the fitting clips over, the screw is tightened to lock it in place.
Does this look familiar? Post pics of the parts if you can.
John :)

Aha. There's a tiny little screw that they've hidden quite well on each part. It's not an allen head, just a flat head, but it's enough I guess to stop it slipping back over the fitting.

You've described how it works exactly. I'll put up a couple of pics later on just for completeness.
