Any ideas please.Had pop up from windows firewall stating it has partially blocked Win32.netsky.Q Your computer could be infected...Been ok since but bit concerned ran a scan nothing detected.What do you reckon regards J

Thanks for that,have done as you suggested,full scan has revealed nothing.Do you think it was a fake alert because there was a link to a company to download removal program.Regards J
 
Thats how they get you. Identify virus' on your machine that aren't really there then charge you a small fortune to remove them :confused:

It's a good idea to hang on to malware bytes and run periodic scans with it. Only after you have updated it obviously.

Your computer could be infected...

windows firewall probably would'nt say this, nor would it make any assessment of the program. It probably wouldnt say "W32.NetSky.Q" because that's the name that antivirus companies give to viruses.. It's not the name a virus writer gives to his program.

Any window that appears and threatens bad things, scrutinise it for thinhgs like title bars that say "Internet Explorer" (indicating it is a popup) or wording, even something as subtle as "Ask me later" on the button instead of "Ask Me Later" (capital letters different)
These all point to it being a hoax window to try and con you into buying something. MS will never link to third party sites in order to get you to buy something (they'd want your money instead)
