Hi there

Have this vehicle since May 2009 and started giving starting trouble in September. Engine turns over but will not start. Always can be jumped after a short tow or a push. Once it starts it will keep starting fine for several days and then just won’t start again at random. Twice failed to start after stalling while driving. Have brought it to two mechanics but unfortunately was not presenting problem at the time. Diagnostic tests show up no errors although glow plugs have been replaced. Got a spare key cut when I purchased it and thought this might have been this and some problem with immobiliser but have ruled this out now as have been exclusively using original key.
I have looked at lots of forums but none the wiser except probably to do with electrics? Immobiliser? Loose connections in wiring loom?
Any help appreciated
Gusss

When starting, switch on the ignition and wait for the red dot in the middle of the dashboard to go out before cranking the engine over. Sometimes, if you're too quick, you can be too fast for the immobiliser, and you will be trying to start the engine before the immobiliser disengages. These vehicles also suffer from a build up of static electricity in the key which can also affect the immobiliser. Give the metal part of the key a light scrape on the ground to earth out this electricity, as this can also affect the immobiliser.
